GJG USA Update
| On behalf of the Golden Jubilee Games (GJG) USA National Team Leadership, we would like to share with you recent developments regarding GJG 2012. As you may be aware, because of concerns about the global economy and political instability in some parts of the world, we were asked to put all GJG activities on pause while the international leadership discussed how best to move forward with the Games. After much deliberation, a decision has been made to officially postpone the international games. It is important to note that while the Games have been postponed at this time, it is Mawlana Hazar Imam’s strong desire to have the Games in the future and to continue this legacy program of the Golden Jubilee. The 2011 National Sports Tournament held in Dallas, Texas was one of the largest and most successful National Sports Tournaments in USA history. The Tournament brought together the finest Ismaili athletes from across the USA, for a weekend of hard-work, competition, friendship, and fun. It’s success was largely due to exceptional athletes from across the country, supported by the Jamat from all over the United States, coming together to exemplify the important values of sportsmanship, unity, and brotherhood. That National Sports Tournament was an opportunity to strive for excellence, set new standards, reach a higher level as one Jamat, and in the process, strengthen our bonds with one another. The Golden Jubilee Games aims to bring together the Jamat from all over the world to bridge cultural, national, and language barriers through sports and to use sports as a means to educate the Jamat on healthy living, nutrition, fitness and exercise. We have started on this wonderful journey together. We have had the opportunity to meet so many of our brothers and sisters along this journey. We have learned from one another, exchanged ideas and thoughts, and become closer as a community. Whether as athletes, spectators, or volunteers, this journey continues. We hope the USA Jamat continues to support and participate in future Jamati sports initiatives as we celebrate our frontier-less brotherhood through sports! Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. |
